Experimental Center of Civil Engineering

Experimental Center of Civil Engineering in National Central University

Experimental Center of Civil Engineering Info.

This building was the nation’s largest civil engineering mechanics experimental facility at the time. After multiple rounds of site visits and comparisons, needs assessments, and expert recommendations, the detailed design was completed in 1991. The facility comprises four sections: (1) the Structural Mechanics Laboratory (including steel-frame and concrete mechanics testing areas), (2) the Geotechnical Engineering Laboratory, (3) the Fluid Mechanics Laboratory, and (4) the Wind Tunnel Laboratory. It also includes an administrative area, teaching laboratories/classrooms, research offices, and a third-floor meeting room. The total floor area is approximately 6,000 m², and the total project cost was NT$120 million.

On October 25, 1994, following discussion at a departmental meeting, the facility was officially named the “Large-Scale Experimental Center of Civil Engineering, National Central University.” Its English name was designated as the Experimental Center of Civil Engineering (ECCE), and it was decided that the center would officially commence operations in June 1995.
